Students are expected to download the (free) student version of the LISREL program (and also read widely on the subject (see below). Guidance for setting up and interpreting the relevant input/output program files will also be provided. Theoretical discussion of key SEM issues will be accompanied by practical demonstration of the use of the LISREL program. The course will take the form of interactive workshop sessions, placing particular emphasis on student participation. Students should also regularly check our homepage for any changes in dates/times or locations. It is absolutely essential that all registered students attend the first session on April 6th 2011 as failure to do so will result in their exclusion from the course. The maximum number of participants is 15.

Students wishing to take this course must register on UNIVIS during the registration period. Attendance is compulsory throughout the course.

The course will take the form of a Blockveranstaltung on the 6th, 7th and 8th of April 2011 (please see our homepage for exact times/places). Students taking this course must have already successfully completed the Management Decision Making and Multivariate Business Statistics courses of the PhD Management core program. The course is designed for PhD students and assumes previous knowledge of data analysis and statistics (including factor analysis and regression). It is designed for non‐experts and the emphasis is on understanding and applying SEM as a tool in substantive research. The course seeks to provide a user‐friendly introduction to structural equations modeling (SEM) using the LISREL program.
